Account Setup

In order to set up an account, an individual should call the business office and provide personal information such as name, address, telephone number, and payment information. The subscriber will need to choose a user name (12 or less characters) and password (6 or more characters). The user name will also be the subscribers email address. For example, a user name of fred would have an email address of fred@midsouth.com.

Once this information is recorded, the business office will arrange for technical support to assist the new subscriber to complete any necessary software configuration on the subscribers computer.

midsouth.com supports the following hardware and TCP/IP network software:

  • Windows 2000/XP
  • Linux / Unix
  • Windows95 Microsoft Dialup Networking for network TCP/IP connection
  • OpenTransport TCP/IP
  • Config PPP
  • FreePPP
  • OpenTransportPPP

midsouth.com also provides setup and configuration support for many Internet software application programs. Some of these Internet programs are Netscape Navigator and Communicator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, a variety of POP email programs, and FTP and Telnet programs. Check with technical support for support availability for specific programs.

USAGE FEES AND PAYMENT

NOTE: Any and all new accounts which are set up on a monthly paper billing basis will be required as of June 2002 to put up a $10.00 deposit before such account can be activated. If you are an exisitng customer that is being billed under this method - in the event your account is ever temporarily disabled for nonpayment you will be required to put up such a deposit as stated before your account can be reactiviated.

midsouth.com accepts payment for services by check, cash, bank draft, money order, MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. The billing period is from the first day of each month. All fees for Internet services are prepaid for each period of service. Bankdraft payments are processed around the first day of the month and clear the subscriber's bank account within four days. Credit card payments are authorized on the last day of the month and the batch is processed on the first.

Bankdrafts which are returned unpaid are subject to a $25.00 service fee. Unauthorized credit cards will be retried within 72 hours and at that time the card is still rejected the subscriber will be notified by telephone and/or email. In case of rejected bankdraft or credit card, if payment, or notification for future payment arrangement, is not received by the 20th, the account will be disabled. midsouth.com will continue to receive and hold email for disabled accounts during the time service is disabled. If payment is not received, or payment arrangement made, within one month from the time the account is disabled, the account will be removed. The login username and password will be cleared from the authentication servers, mail files will be deleted, and personal home pages, if any, will be removed from the web server. All unpaid accounts will be turned over for collections which will result in additional fees. Please make note that if the 1st of the month falls on a weekend, All billing will be done the prior Friday.

All installment plans (quarterly, semi-annual and annual) are invoiced one month in advance. Payment is due before date stated on invoice or account will automatically disable. Payment arrangements should be made in advance of due date to avoid discontinuance of service.

Pre-pay services (monthly) are not invoiced and are solely the responsibility of the subscriber. At time of payment, the customer's invoice will be noted as to next payment and further billing will not be sent. If payment has not been received by the specified date, the account will automatically disable.

CANCELLATION

midsouth.com customers may cancel service by providing midsouth.com with notification at least 10 days before the end of the month. midsouth will delete the account on the last day of the month. Notification of cancellation will ONLY be accepted by online cancel form, fax, postal delivery, e-mail, or by stopping by our Amory office. If you use fax, e-mail, or postal delivery you must provide all the infomation that is requested in the following form.

NOTE: If a customer wishes to cancel their service, it is the responsibility for that customer to cancel his or her account. Failure to cancel your account according to policy guidlines will result in continuation of service and billing making this a legitimate collectable debt which will be collected by the midsouth.com collections dept.

NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED FOR MONTHLY SERVICE. If you have a discrepancy regarding bankdraft or credit card charges, please provide our office with written complaint and supporting documentation and your request will be processed accordingly.

Refunds may not be issued for installment accounts unless under the following conditions: a) Subscriber is moving out of the service latta and provides our office with new mailing address. b) Subscriber has lost use of service due to unoperational equipment.

Midsouth.com Wireless Service is sold on a 12 month contractual term. If wireless service is cancelled within the 12 month service period, midsouth.com will demand 75% of the remaining balance left on any 12 month wireless service.

USAGE GUIDELINES

In order to provide our customers with the best possible service availability, midsouth.com has implemented the following usage guidelines. midsouth.com reserves the right terminate any account with no refund to customer in the event of violation of these usage guidelines.

We are not responsible for what's on the Internet or its reliability. We are in no way responsible for content, reliability, suitability or accuracy of information, programs, or other material. We make no claim regarding fitness for any purpose. We disavow any responsibility for any kind of damages or loss you may incur as a result of using the service.

Each dialup account is limited to only one concurrent login session. There may be no more than one login session active at any time.

Login authentication user names and passwords must be safeguarded by the user at all times. The customer must prevent unauthorized usage of the account, and must not give user name and password information to any individuals not authorized to use the account. Violation of this policy will result in termination of the account with no refund of any fees paid or pre-paid.

midsouth.com allows all dialup subscribers unlimited Internet access. Unlimited usage does not mean or imply dedicated or permanent connections to the Internet. The customer is free to login as often as desired and stay connected as long as the customer is actively using the connection. The customer may not use any device or software program to keep the dialup connection active while the user is not present. The following activities are expressly forbidden and will result in immediate termination of the account with no refund of any fees paid or pre-paid:

  • LINE CAMPING The use of any dialup account as a permanent connection or dedicated line for any purpose. Any sharing of facilities or resale of service is also expressly forbidden.
  • AUTOMATIC RE-CONNECT The use of any programs or devices to defeat automatic idle timeouts that disconnect sessions that are inactive is not authorized. Specifically, the following programs may not be used: Dunce; continuous, automatic mail polling; interactive chat services that continuously keep an unattended session active; and web-roaming bots that download large amounts of files and data to the users hard drive, unattended.
  • SHARING OR RESELLING Mid South Computers will not allow sharing of Internet Services with neighbors or friends. If a user is caught reselling wireless or DSL services without permission, Mid South Computers, Inc. will pursue legal actions against said customer to recover any losses that may have occured, and to protect the interest of Mid South Computers, Inc. dba - midsouth.com. All users are responsible for their own account, and must make sure no one else is using it. Failing to abide by this agreement will result in immediate termination of account.

All dialup accounts include space on midsouth.coms web server for personal web pages. These personal web pages are for NON-COMMERCIAL use only. midsouth.com reserves the right to charge and collect from customer the standard fee of $15 per month for business web page hosting for any personal home pages deemed to be for commercial use.

midsouth.com reserves the right to monitor its networks for instances of unauthorized usage and activity prohibited in these usage guidelines. midsouth.com also reserves the right to refuse service to any party that does not abide to our policy, or becomes a direct threat to Mid South Computers by violation of service use.

EMAIL AND NEWSGROUP POSTING

The practice of sending Unsolicited E-mail, also known as spamming, is prohibited. Spamming is the posting or cross-posting of articles to more than 20 Usenet newsgroups or unsolicited mass emailings for any purpose whatsoever.

We also have the right to charge any person or persons that sends Unsolicited E-Mails to our users. This is considered a service.

All users are expected to observe generally accepted rules of Internet Netiquette. Examples of activities that are considered violations of good Netiquette are off-topic postings to Newsgroups, gathering of email addresses and names for commercial or political purposes, and cancellation of Usenet posts other than those posted by the customer.

After hours, and during peak business hours, calls to tech support may go into voice mail. If this happens, please leave a message. The voice mail is monitored, and someone will return your message.
