Setup Program - for Windows XP/2000/95/98/ME


NOTE: If you need to setup your computer again, please be sure to always download the latest setup program as the dial in access numbers change from time to time.

(1) Run A:\Setup.exe

(2) Click on Add User Info and fill in your username and password ect You should have obtained this information when you set up your account.

(3) Click the PROCESS button, this will create the Microsoft IEAK setup file that will create your Dial-Up Connection, E-Mail and News settings.

(4) Click the start button in the bottom left hand side of your desktop. You are now ready to modify your Internet Settings.

(5) Continue

(6) A box will say you are about to modify your Internet Settings. Click the YES button - You will then see your account information displayed.

(7) You will then be prompted with a box that tells you to choose your modem. Choose the modem you have installed in your machine and click OK. You are now finished, your should click on the Internet Explorer Icon on your desktop to login to the internet.

NOTE: Do not follow the below instructions if you have a setup disk.

Windows 95/98 Manual Installation Instructions - For manual install only

(1) Double click on My Computer from the desktop of your computer screen.

(2) Find the icon that says Dial Up Networking and double click it.

(3) Double click on the Make New Connection icon.

(4) In the box that says "Type a name for the computer you are dialing", type midsouth.com and click the next button.

(5) In the box that says "Type the phone number of the computer to dial", type your area`s access number then click the next button.

(6) The next screen will say you have successfully created a new Dial-Up Networking connection called midsouth.com. Click the finish button.

(7) You should now see the midsouth.com icon inside your Dial-Up Networking box. You need to put your pointer on this connection and click the RIGHT button on your mouse - this will POP-up a box and you should then choose PROPERTIES and click on it.

(8) Under properties you need to click the tab at the top that says Server Types.

(9) Under advanced options you need to have only "Enable Software Compression" with a check mark by it. Uncheck "Log on to Network".

(10) Under Allow Network Protocols you need to have only "TCP/IP" checked. Remove the check marks by NetBEUI and IPX/SPX Compatible.

(11) Click the OK button and you are now ready to dial using the connection.



The first time you dial using this connection you will need to enter your user ID and password for your internet account. If you don`t have this please call our office to obtain one.

Depending on what browser you are using, you will need to modify your connection information. Your WebPage start page should be set to http://www.midsouth.com.

Our POP3 incoming and outgoing mail servers are both set to mail.midsouth.com. These settings must be set before you can send and recieve e-mail.

These are the basics for a standard setup. However, if you have problems please feel free to call our office and a tech will walk you thorugh the steps to ensure your account is setup properly.
